We moved into our new crib and immediately started fixing it. We’ve managed to fill every crack, paint all the walls (well, at least most of them), regrout the shower and get it pretty presentable. I’ve lost track of everything we’ve done… but thankfully have a handful of ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures. You wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t have the pictures.
All I can say is… we are truly, truly blessed to have such amazing friends!
…will totally fly by. Like this coming weekend. Somehow, we went from one event to four in a matter of minutes. We’ve got some fun things lined up, but I’m sure I’ll be pretty darn tired by the time everything’s over.
On Saturday morning, I have to attend a practice session at 9:30 a.m. for the dragonboat races. The dragonboat race is part of the Annual Dragonboat, Kite and Lantern Festival in Las Colinas, Irving. My company’s sponsoring the event, and they talked me into being an active participant on the boat (aka “rower”).
Following that event, I’ll have to head home and get washed up for Jennifer’s graduation at 3 p.m. Jennifer is Binh’s younger sister, and she’s graduating from medical school in Fort Worth.
As if that day isn’t already jammed packed, we have to race back to Richardson from Fort Worth immediately after the graduation ceremony for Houy and Jimmy’s wedding. The reception starts at 6 p.m. but I don’t think we’ll make it until closer to 7 or 7:30 p.m.
Hopefully that night won’t progress into the wee hours of the next morning… since I have to be at the team check-in tent by 9 a.m. on Sunday morning for the day of the actual dragonboat races. Depending on how our team does, we may or may not do more than one heat/round, lol.
Whew… just thinking about the weekend is already exhausting me. Pictures of all the events to follow…
We ordered disconnections on our home phone, internet and electricity today. It’ll all shut off on May 22…. so, let’s hope everything will be in order by then.
I read a great article the other day about ‘hating your boss’ – thankfully I don’t hate my immediate boss, but unfortunately I can’t say the same for my boss’ boss. I can’t find the article anymore, but essentially, it suggested that people in this position could create positive phrases that would channel the anger and frustration.
I create my phrases today:
You can not correct stupid.
Suck it up and deliver.
This will pass.
You are ultimately better.
I wrote the phrases on a sticky note, stuck it on my monitor… and surprisingly, reading the phrases helped!
A lot of things have happened since our last post…
We thought we’d be in a house by now, but we’re not. The house we were getting ended up being a major flop since the seller decided to retract his decision and not sell the house. I’ll save everyone trouble by not getting into how exactly the whole situation unfolded, but I will say that it took us moving the closing date three times and giving the seller an ultimatum. We’re still waiting for the out of pocket expenses the seller ‘promised’ to pay us back for, but after two weeks, we’ve decided to put a lien against his house instead. Lets just say, the seller is fk’ed.
On to more happy things…
My best friend, Star, got semi-married. I knew this day would eventually come, and I’m happy for him. He found a girl that puts up with his shenanigans, accepts him for who he is and truly completes him…. that’s really all that we could have asked for. He had a beautiful Chinese tea ceremony and fun Chinese-themed reception. Later this month, they are going to Hawaii for the legal ceremony… a destination wedding just like his bride-to-be has dreamt of. Here’s a photo of the happy couple on the dance floor at the reception; photo courtesy by Albert Vo of Capture Creative Group.
Since we love Star so much, the boys delivered two funny skits at the reception.
This first one is during the entrance, choregraphed to D-Generation X (WWE theme)…
This second one was during the toasts, choregraphed to Madonna’s “Lucky Star”…..
Earlier in the month…
Christina asked me to be her Matron of Honor, which I very happily accepted! It feels like just yesterday that I met her. I’ve definitely seen her go through a lot, from a bad breakup to her baptism to her most recent engagement to an incredibly wonderful man. As they say, ‘let the wedding planning commence!’ But more importantly… where does the bride want to celebrate her bachelorette, rofl!
Lots of things going on the rest of this month… so stay tuned for the next update!
Some days, like today, I retort to very child-like behavior. I don’t know why, but I know that I can’t help it. Some days are better than others…. unfortunately today didn’t go quite as we had originally planned!
I can’t believe its been only a year since we’ve known Joey! We first met Joey the weekend of his birthday, this time last year, when we walked into the apartment complex to inquire about the rates…. never did we think we’d become such great friends! Joey’s a charm and we helped coordinate his birthday party this year. The first stop was The Magic Time Machine for dinner, followed by drinks at The Londoner.
