I’ll definitely be super happy when I leave work on Wednesday since I have a 3-day week this week…. and thank gawd since I’m hella tired today. We had some friends over last night, and Binh made the best baked ziti and linguini spaghetti. Then somehow we went through four bottles of wine and stayed up until 3am karaoking. (laugh) Sometimes we like to pretend that we’re young!!
Well, we hung some pictures finally. The apartment actually feels a little more homelier (if that’s such a word). But I noticed something today, Jannie uses the Clorox bleach wipes for everything, and I mean EVERYTHING! Jannie was cleaning the bathroom today. I walked in later and noticed a haze on the mirror. Come to find out, Jannie used a Clorox bleach wipe on the mirror. Ok, I know it kills germs like no tomorrow but it’s not meant for glass. That’s why I bought the anti-bacterial Windex. Using the Clorox wipe for glass is like using bar soap for shampoo. But then again, I’m sure there are 10 times more things that I use for things that it shouldn’t be used for and I’m sure Jannie would be more than happy to point them all out.
We just got our hands on our wedding photos from the photographer!
They’re on our Flickr page under the “By Capture Creative” set:

Enjoy!
My hair had gotten so ridiculously long and I wanted to chop it all off because the only reason I’d kept it was for the wedding. Shortly after the wedding, maybe two weeks afterwards, I’d gotten a haircut… but I only had the courage to cut off about 3-4 inches of it. Then earlier this week, I decided that I wanted it shorter. So yesterday after work, I went in to see my new hairstylist – whom I like to refer to as the “hair genius” – (Matt at Terrace Retreat Salon in Southlake Town Square) and he cut off another 3-4 inches of it. I asked him to ‘bob’ it and my hair now lightly touches my shoulders. I love it and he did such a great job blending my layers together that it looks really natural. I’ve gotten double takes at work today because people haven’t recognized me at first glance; it’s the funniest thing.
The weekend totally came and went. On Friday evening, we payed our respects to Quynh and her family because her mother passed away the week before – ironically enough on Friday the 13th – after losing her battle against pancreatic cancer. Her mother was so young and moments like these truly make you more thankful for having those around you.
On Saturday, Binh and I visited my mom and helped her around the house. We ran a few errands and did a little bit of shopping. Somehow the day completely passed us by, and it was time for the Rascal Flatts concert. Woohoo! It was my third time seeing them, and this concert was different than the other two… a little slower and a lot more acoustic. In any case, they were still great.
After the concert ended, we battled the traffic getting out of the venue and guess what happened? Someone rear-ended us. Go figure. We’re fine, but there’s some minor scratches/bumps to Binh’s car (yet again).
Sunday was spent shopping and mostly at the pool. First at Wendy’s annual ice cream and pool social, and then at our complex pool. Yes, I was in serious need of a tan and still am. Since I’d been a delinquent, we ended up ordering in for dinner and I worked all night (literally). [sigh]
So, we haven’t even been married a whole month and Jannie is already beating me!!! I have been punched and back-handed twice!!! Jannie is trying to show me how strong her pimp hand is. But Jannie’s excuse is that she’s doing it unconsciously….., ummm………hmmmmm. But seriously, she does it in her sleep. We laugh about it, because I don’t want to cry about it out of fear that she’ll punch me again in her sleep. The first night she did that, she punched me in the chest. I thought she was waking me up because I was snoring or breathing into her face. When I woke up from the punch she was fast asleep. When I asked her about it the next day, she doesn’t remember anything of the sort. Then, about a couple nights later, I was facing away from her and then felt a back-hand to the back of my head!!! This time, I figured that she was waking me up to go to work, but when I look at the alarm clock, it was only 5:30 AM!!!!! Son of a #@$%*!!!!!!!! An hour before the alarm is supposed to go off for me!!!!! I turn to see what was going on and I see Jannie sprawled out in the middle of the bed snoring! Then, a week later, she back hands me again!!! I need to go back to Longview and get my football helmet and wear it to sleep. I’m sure the next time she tries to pimp slap me, it will be the last time!
But it’s been a kick living our first month together as husband and wife. We’re slowly building our routine. I think she’s been really happy with the cooking. We still need to clear out the garage. The Thank You cards are slowly making their way out. Jannie has been really happy with all of the free gifts, mainly because she is able to replace my old things that I brought with me from my single life with the new gifts. Some of the things that we are using all the time are, the wine cellar (compliments of the Zollinger 4), the rice cooker, and the cooking utensils (guess which one is getting used by Jannie). The pictures need to be hung, some need to be framed. The apartment is fully furnished, but not decorated (anyone wanna come by and help?). We can’t wait to see the video and the pictures from the tea ceremony and reception. Well, here’s to married life. We almost have our finances down. The next thing will be our honeymoon!!!!
Fellow cyclists/riders: Please take the time to sign this petition, it takes no more than 2 minutes. We’ve all been there at one time or another where we’ve almost gotten run off the road by irate drivers, so lets show the city council that there are people out there who ride bikes after all. Pass it on.
**
7 cyclists in the past 7 days have been hit by cars in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. 2 were killed, 1 is in critical condition in the ICU at last report. It’s all just too much. Recently a city council person said “Well there are not many people in my district who want to ride bikes anyway” Let’s prove him and a whole host of others like him wrong. This isn’t just for the roadies or the mountain bikers – although we want you to sign it! It is for your neighbors whose kids ride to school, it is for the older couple on the corner who ride around the block. It is for anyone who in any way at all wants to see bikes on the streets without fear in North Texas. It is for those who would rather ride off the street, is is for those who will ride anywhere – and mostly – for those who won’t ride at all given current conditions. Please forward this to everyone and anyone – it will not be used for commercial purposes, it will be used to answer comments such as the one above with “Well sir, actually there are 1217 people in your district who WANT to cycle!” and be able to prove it.

When I moved, I requested that the USPS forward my mail from my old address to my new address. Not hard, right? Not so much. I started receiving my mom’s mail at my new address the other day. Because my given first name is Tran and my mom’s last name is Tran, the USPS absentmindedly started forwarding my mom’s mail to me too. Someone please tell me how someone can mistaken “Tran N Luong” with “Phuong Tran” huh? I just spent 20 minutes with the toll-free USPS help line, only to be told to call the local post office, where I then spent another 15 minutes waiting until I could talk with a supervisor… a supervisor who basically told me he couldn’t do anything other than stopping the mail forward. UGH! Are you kidding me? Learn to read you idiots!!
