Star asked me and Binh to be in his and Vanessa’s wedding bridal party, after which Vanessa proclaimed that I’d be “standing on her side.” That comment was comical. They’re obviously still working out the details to their big day (no date has been set yet), which (from what I hear) will entail two different ceremonies — a Chinese tea ceremony in Garland and a destination wedding on St. John’s in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

All this wedding talk made me think of how I had asked my closest girlfriends to be my bridesmaids. I didn’t want the moment to be so simplistic that they’d forget, so I came up with a creative idea and a creative way to ask each of them. I made each one a personalized 11×11 frame that included some scrapbook pieces, a picture of us together and a little rhyme. I also made it a point to ask each one of them in person because I had prepared “notes” for each of them…. of course, with the exception of Jody and Jackie since they were living in different states at the moment. I know that I may have made something easy a bit dramatic, but I wanted that moment to be special to both myself and my bridesmaids.

I couldn’t find a picture of the personalized frames in my photobook, so I pulled this one off Christina’s blog. Here’s a sample of what the gifts looked like:
